bookwebcoverI love an inspir-o-girl. Someone who completely rocks and kicks my butt with exciting possibilities. That’s why I dig Sarah Prout.

Sarah is the super-talent behind SPROUT,  a boutique media empire designed to inspire entrepreneurs – she’s also author girl of Sprout The Life You Love, a book filled with everything a girl needs to know about how to make money doing what you love. I got my copy last week and LOVED it. I’m a total fan-girl of reading profiles about successful types  and this book is positively bursting with them, along with Sarah’s own tips and insight into being an entrepreneur – awesome.

So, meet Sarah here, go visit her empire, then buy the book – all in that order, ‘k?!!

    So, I have a question…

Have you ever noticed what happens when you really, really focus on something?
Y’know, like a type of car, a person, a band?

If you’re anything like me, you’ll notice that you suddenly begin to spot that very car, person, band all the time, whether it’s on TV, in real life or on the pages of a magazine… Weird, non?

    I love shoes.

The sharp curve on the heel of a  MIU MIU shoe fills me with deep, deep lust and I love the new Vivienne Westwood for Melissa heels so much that I’m on the waiting list for a pair. The trouble with heels, I feel, is that I am 5’10” without them, and 6’1” when strapped in. Which is great if you’re a supermodel, or you’re Brook Shields in Lipstick Jungle – now she knows how to rock the heel – but not so great when you’re me and you tower over men in nightclubs, your friends are all 5ft 5 and you walk into street bollards, as they only reach mid-thigh.

Coco Chanel was a Sassy Minx; feisty, fabulous and freakin’ stylish. She famously said “a girl should be two things; classy and fabulous” and so with this in mind, it makes total sense that my long-term girl-crush, Amelie star, Audrey Tautou, is playing the celebrated fashion designer in Coco avant Chanel, the first of the Coco Chanel battling biopics to be released this April.

I used to love joining clubs when I was younger, especially if it meant I got a badge, seriously, who doesn’t love a badge? Which is why, when Melbourne based illo-girl, Lisa Currie, asked for people to join The Scribble Project Club – a community of happy scribblers, I was the first with my hand in the air.

I’m not going to lie, I love Gisele Scanlon a little bit.
She may be THE go-to girl for swank locales, beauty and fashion, yet she’s not your stereotypical fashionista. F’sure, she might swoon over designer dresses and have the name of every need-to-know designer type on speed dial, but she also washes her hair every third day and is actually really, really nice – just check out the video on her Amazon page – adorbz.

300-3Cut-out is the creation of awesome super-talent, Miss Kay. She designs kick-ass T-shirts and tote bags, button badges and handmade jewellery for your pleasure and delight, because…well, she’s really rather nice like that!

Come meet Kay, then go visit the site - you’ll love it!

Describe Kay, the lady behind the label, in 5 words…
    Fun, happy, creative, curious, shy.

SM hearts Cut-out. Tell us all about it, what is it? What’s with the name? When did you start?
Cut-Out is a little clothing label specialising in printing limited edition T-shirts, tote bags, and making jewellery and other lovely items. I started it as a business when I graduated from University Summer 2008 because I didn’t want to get a job in an office or do anything that could stop me being creative. I wanted to start something that would be inclusive, not something that would only be about making a name for myself. I missed getting inky hands and screen-printing myself, so I saved up some money and set up the print studio. I don’t really know where the name Cut-Out came from, my friend wanted me to call it ‘Build your own grenade’, but Cut-Out just sounded a bit nicer.
