i-hate-cinderellaLast November, my heart was pinched and bruised by a member o’ boykind – I got angry, I did A LOT of crying, punched a few pillows, ate A LOT of chocolate and for a while, really thought my life would never, ever be the same again.

Amanda Cole’s adorable illustrated grown-up girl fairy tale, I hate Cinderella is told from a mix of personal heartache and her best girlie friends’ heartache stories.  It’s not a ‘boo-to-boys’ book, far from it, it’s quite possibly the prettiest, lovliest story with the most beautiful illustrations that will support you through the heart-break process and shows you that there’s hope, and that you can love again.

I am blogginz crazy and my google reader is positively filled-to-the-brim with sassy minxes doing awesome things online.

Now, I figured it would be simply rude and wrong of me to keep these ladies o’ fabulousness to myself, so let me introduce you to one of my absolute faves, {Luphia loves…}, a sweet-as-sugar blogginz dedicated to all things pretty – this online space is sassification x 1000. Fact.

I declared the 4-day Easter holiday an official ‘Chill, Chica’ holiday – no alcohol, no crazy late night/early morning shenanigans and no work, not even email checking.

Why? Because being a Sassy Minx is all about finding the balance. If you work hard and play hard, then you also need to make a date with your sweet self to rest and de-stress. Fact.

Now, I thought I had this whole ‘relaxing’ thing down, I am queen o’ sleep and can watch back-to-back Gossip Girl without feeling any guilt, but four whole days without a diary filled-to-the-brim with social events? What’s a girl to do?

I heart the Piperita Patties. If you love your music in a kitsch, girl-shaped, day-glo fabulous Italian-o package, then you will most deffo heart them too.

Forget those pesky Pussycat Dolls – The Piperita Patties are a girl band you can really dig. Their music is bubblecore pop’n’roll with a powerful twist – what could be cooler than that?

    Answer? Nothing.

6a00d8341c873353ef01156e597aa9970c-800wiI am an obsesso-girl for hair prods, and I’m not going to lie, my prods of choice are often decided by how pretty the packaging is – there, I said it – and that’s why I fell a little bit in love with the sexy new Play With Me range from Clynol.

The purple packaging makes you think naughty thoughts, I don’t know why, it just does, but it turns out these four fresh-scented stylin’ prods – Tease, Rocky, Matty and Texty – also gives long lasting, playable styling results that will hold out as long as you can…

All prods are £9.95 and my personal fave is the Matty texturising spray. To get a dry, light-wax effect with no crispy coating, just spray into the hair and rub in with fingers and let it dry – it lasts even in hot and humid conditions – LOVE it.

200479485_85f4341b71On New Years day, Ms Lisa and I,  sat in our pretty PJ’s in a swanky boutique hotel room in Paris and compiled two lists in our art girl notebooks – a gratitude list for 2008 and a wishlist for 2009. We weren’t hungover – I know, how modern? – and we were watching the French dub of Some like it Hot (Merci Marilyn).

    I also wrote a letter.

Call me silly, but I don’t think there’s anything more romantic than receiving a gorgeous handwritten note from the person you love, and as I’m currently romancing myself, it seemed like the perfect thing to do. This is an edited version – it wouldn’t do to give away all of my secrets now, would it? – but you should give it a go, for the whole of January my life became very Hollywood story, and every time I get a life-wobble, I read it and it reminds me of what I deserve and that someone amazing loves me…Me!

Were you able to do a 100 hoop spins without stopping as a kid? No, me neither, but how much fun was hooping? Now, I’m no gym bunny, so I welcome any fun and fabulous way to keep fit that doesn’t involve a tread mill, that’s why I am currently channeling my 10 year-old self and finding some serious love for the hoopin’ thanks to my awesome new Spinderella hoop from Hoopnotica – LOVE it.

I am a total etsy freak.

There are so many beyond-talented craft-girl types making incredible one-of-a-kind treats that I’ve decided to  sporadically (officially my fave word ever since I heard it in the movie Clueless) shout about my personal faves in a Want, Need, Must-Have feature – cool, huh?

Today I am in heart with…Bubbles and Frown

London based lingerie shop, So Shei has teamed up with HOTmilk, an international maternity and nursing lingerie label to celebrate their Knickers For Africa campaign.

“Sometimes we can take a lot for granted, from the roofs over our heads right down to the fact we own underwear,” says HOTmilk co-owner and co-designer Ange Crosbie. “When we heard that something as simple as undergarments had the possibility of giving young women in Zimbabwe a better chance to live a life free of sexual abuse, we knew that we wanted to help.”
