Now maybe its just me, but I can pretty much equate most things to shopping. Money apparently makes the world go round, and in life there are constant ‘hot or not’ lists to tick. Everybody has feelings that are used, so the term ‘emotional spending’ is something all of us can relate to.

It’s also something that has been heightened in the economic climate – we may have stopped burning money, but there is an ever apparent trend and increase in areas such as sex and burning desires in areas of  love.

Now girls, let me take you back to your neurotic and insecure sixteen year old self. What advice would you give yourself? Was Just Seventeen/Sugar/Bliss true in all of its words of wisdom?

Dear Me; A letter to your Sixteen year old self includes letters from three knights, a handful of Oscar winners, a bevy of Baftas, an intrepid explorer, a few teenage pop stars, an avid horticulturalist, pages and pages of bestselling authors, a dishy doctor, a full credit of film directors, a lovey of top actors, a giggle of comedians and an Archbishop! The letters range from the compassionate to the shocking via hilarity and heartbreak, but they all have one thing in common: they offer a unique insight into the teenager who would grow up to be…. Stephen Fry, Annie Lennox, Paul O’Grady, Jackie Collins, Fay Weldon, Alan Carr, Peter Kay, Debbie Harry, Brenda Blethyn , Jonathan Ross, Liz Smith, Will Young, Alison Moyet, Rosanne Cash, Sir Ranulph Fiennes, Yoko Ono, Emma Thompson…

It’s guaranteed to make you laugh, make you cry and is a perfect Christmas gift . Not only that, but £1 from each copy sold goes towards The Elton John Foundation, so you’ll be doing a good deed too.

Here are our letters to our sixteen year old selves. We hope you enjoy them, we’d love to read yours too – please share them with us!

It’s always hard to make the right choice when it comes to boykind, so I’m completely coveting this bracelet by MeandZena. Torn between Love, Hate, Like or Lust,  it might just make me less fickle when I spin the dial on the heart charm, and possibly help to guide me in the right direction when it comes to those bad boys.

I very much doubt it, but when it looks as pretty as this, it’s worth a try, right?

And it doesn’t just come in bracelet form, but in a necklace (spotted on Pixie Lott) and earrings too. Darn it, those decisions just got harder!

Fellow Sassy Minxes, please join Miss Lisa and I as we smudge our eyeliner and smoulder, in homage to one of Britain’s multi-talented creatives, Pearl Lowe.

Pearl was the vocalist of Brit Pop bands Powder and Lodger in the nineties, is renowned for being the Queen of Lace – her homewares and dresses adorn Rock and Roll royalty and has been collaborating with Peacocks on a high street line of dee-lish prodz. She’s a mother of four, a writer, an ambassador for Action On Addiction, was a singer in the Britpop bands Powder and Ledger (as well as being wife to Mr Danny ‘Supergrass’ Goffey), and was briefly the face of Agent Provocateur – phew! With all this going on, it was great to be able to catch up with Pearl and talk to her about her collaboration with luxe lingerie label, Yes Master
