Meet Michelle. She’s got more than a touch o’ the awesomeness. She has a fabu website www.wicked-whimsy.com and has just launched her unique brand of Style Therapy, because Michelle believes that your style tells a story and that you should make sure it’s telling your story and not someone elses.
Come see for yo’ self.
What is Style Therapy?
It’s not a “what not to wear” or “oh you’re an hourglass, you should buy this” or “this is what’s in this season” sort of thing. At all. It’s about figuring out how to express your style, while working around any issues or constraints you might have. It’s about you and your style being one happy whole instead of two pissed off parties fighting with each other.Michelle, what is Style Therapy and why did you set it up?
Style Therapy is a new line of services I’m offering through my website, Wicked Whimsy. I came up with the idea because I was looking at a lot of the personal styling services I see offered, and it seems like most of them are all very much “this is what looks good on your body shape, never wear anything else” or “this is what’s in this season”. Which are both good and well for people interested in them, but it seems like that leaves a huge amount of people unfulfilled. People who care less about rhetoric like “apple shapes should wear this” and more about expressing themselves and who they are via what they wear.
What does the term ’style’ mean to you?
Style is the flair with which you life your life, and I think that most stylish people let it show in every way that they can!Tell us about the 4 different services you’re offering…
The “tune up” is the quickie service, or one for someone with a specific problem. It’s done via email so as to be more convenient for everyone involved. The “remodel” involves a 30 minute chat with three days of follow up services, and it would be for something more complex – a change in your style, a minor reworking of it, something like that. The “overhaul” is, as the name implies, for someone who needs some major help – totally reworking their style, for example. I also offer some personal shopping services, with a discount if it’s purchased with another service.
What can the minxes expect when they talk to you?
They can expect to get new ideas and inspiration, and then walk away with a refreshed vision of their style & a clear direction to go in with it!The good news is that Michelle has given you fabulous minxes a 10% discount – woop, woop! Just head over to Style Therapy and type in the code ’sassy’!

I heart Vivien of Holloway and want a swoonsville leading man to propose a Vegas wedding with Elvis conducting the service so that I can wear THIS dress – boys, please form an orderly queue.

I have been coveting this bag since the first time I visited the Me&Zena website and this very morning, the adorbz Miss Zena sent it to me as a present! I will wear it proudly as a reminder to the great British public that they ALWAYS have the right to remain romantic – j’adore. Get your own for £6.00 at www.meandzena.com

The gorgeous Kimberley Wilson, author of the fab new book Tranquilista, was the first person who intro’d me to the awesomeness of Anais Nin. I am a total journal-keeping geek girl and Anais was officially the queen o’ the journal writing, her published diaries spanned over 60 years and included a rather fruity frisson with Henry Miller in Paris – le sigh. I’m slowly collecting her diaries but s’far, this is one of my favourite quotes…
“…I am an excitable person who only understands life lyrically, musically, in whom feelings are much stronger than reason. I am so thirsty for the marvelous that only the marvelous has power over me. Anything I can not transform into something marvelous, I let go. Reality doesn’t impress me. I only believe in intoxication, in ecstasy, & when ordinary life shackles me, I escape, one way or another. No more walls…”

Ohmygoddess. Those hips don’t lie, Christina Hendricks, you rule.

Me & Zena is the creation of London based designer Miss Zena Mckeown, who graduated from Edinburgh College of Art with a BA in Visual Communication in 2004. She moved to London in 2005, clueless and broke, with a dream in her heart and a teenager in her soul, shouting things about unicorns, gold and love. With these three things in mind, Zena created her first piece of jewellery and continues to satisfy her love of all things small, shiny and symbolic to this day. Miss L and I are HUGE fans and we are in good company, as Cheryl Cole, Sarah Harding and the Geldof Girls dig Me&Zena too.
If you missed it, we launched a competition earlier this month to win a Me&Zena ‘Should I?” necklace, so for a last minute enter, tell us what you are saying ‘yes’ and ‘no’ to for 2010 by the 31st January 2010…

It’s no secret that us Sassy Minxes are suckers for all things New York – our Sassy Guide to NY is coming VERY soon, we promise – but since our return from our favourite city back in November, we’ve been filling up on all things New York-y – pancakes, expensive make up purchases and Miranda Dickinson’s new book, Fairytale of New York – I mean, look at the cover, it’s freakin’ beautiful, isn’t it? – the words are pretty awesome too, in fact this is one of my favourite reads of 2009, if you haven’t read it, go buy a copy now – well, read all about author girl Miranda first then go buy a copy, that’ll work.

January 27th, 2010Life CandyMiss Aimz and I have Mad Men fever. We plan on spending a LOT of February with the boxsets, coveting the fashion, cooing over how Joan Holloway is our new inspiro-girl and wishing we were living in the 60s.
I don’t know if you saw all the Golden Globes hoo-haa over Christina Hendricks dress – basically they said she shouldn’t have worn the dress she did because she’s a big girl – er…hello? The woman has the most bangin’ curves I ever did see!
Now, I’m no fashion commentator, but I AM a commentator on women’s issues and all I know is that I could not think of a better poster girl for a healthy looking woman o’ fabulousness than Miss Hendricks – I mean look at her – can I get a witness? H.O.T. Girl, you’re a Sassy Minx and we salute you!

I can’t believe it’s taken me so long to intro you to my partner in all things pink, Miss KittyPinkStars. She’s a kooky girl who lives in a candy pink gingerbread house full of crafting, kittens, rainbows, toys, love and craziness! She makes a rainbow collection of sock creatures that all have their very own felt friend. Inspired by her love of super bright colours, Japanese fruits, sweet treats, cartoons and all things kawaii and all made from the doodles that she thinks up in her bee-you-tiful candy floss mind! Come meet her, she’s freakin’ adorbz. Fact.

January 26th, 2010Head Over Heels, Inner MinxI am often asked, sometimes by total strangers, how and why I’m so positive and smiley. Well first, I point them in the direction of the nearest bookstore so they can buy my book, Think Pink, which is the go-for-it girl’s guide to thinking positively, and then I tell them that there’s no real secret, I just work every day to fill my life with as much pleasure and fabulousness as I possibly can – adventures, pretty things, books, people I heart, long conversations, flirting, dancing, it really is a recipe for happiness…
But, there are still icky days, you know those days when an unexpected bill comes through the door, when our hair doesn’t do what it should, or in Miss Aimee’s case, you find your dog has chewed up four pairs of super-expensive Agent Provocateur undies and on those days you need to be prepared, which is why I created a Sassy Kit o’ Pleasure, because laughter and smiles are infectious and they are a great way of releasing tension or negative thoughts…
Lisa’s Sassy Kit o’ Pleasure…

Elizabeth Taylor/Doris Day/Audrey Hepburn DVD BOX SETS – flick the ‘off’ switch in your hectic head and admire and adore the stars of the silver screen – girls with curves, leading men who woo and dramatic clinches of lust…Le sigh.BEING TICKLED – tickling is such a fine line between pleasure and pain, but being tickled and laughing so much that my tummy hurts, is one of my most favourite ways to spend an afternoon, evening or morning for that matter…

HUNK-A-DUNK-TIME – duvet + cuddles + lots of kisses + Paloma Faith/Kelianna/Carla Bruni CDs on shuffle + plotting + planning + daydreaming = totes and utter happiness.
COLOURING IN – some people meditate, some people do yoga but I colour in. It’s not just for children y’know, I love it, try it!

BAKING – it’s no secret that I LOVE cupcakes, but it’s only recently that I’ve put on a pair of heels, a Cath Kitson pinny and channeled both my inner and outer Nigella to bake my own…Not only do I love rocking a Nigella ensemble and licking my spoon seductively, I love adding pretty frosting and most importantly, eating them.
PLAY – paint a picture, re-read a book from your childhood – I recommend anything by Judy Blume, splash in huge puddle in your flip-flops, get crafty because stitchin’ is bitchin’, there doesn’t always have to be an end result, just have fun enjoying the moment!

CHOCOLATE – it’s good for you. Fact.
PUGS – until I get my very own pug that I will name Groucho, this video ALWAYS makes me happy.

PLAYING MAKE-UP – picking a look I love, like Elizabeth Taylor in The Last Time I Saw Paris, and replicating it with very expensive make-up with nowhere in particular to go…
LONG CONVERSATIONS – late night conversations with a boy you’re crushing on, long chats with your best g-friend over tea and cake, passionate discussions with far-away friends on Skype – BT were right, it is good to talk.

FLIRTING – This is me, mid-flirt. I’m not going to lie, I LOVE to flirt. Only last week, I found myself flirting outrageously with the boy behind the counter in Subway – he was hot, he was covered in tattoos and told me I had the prettiest hair he’d ever seen. I left Subway with a tuna 6inch baguette, an offer of a date with aforementioned hot boy – I politely declined, he was far too young for me – and a big smile o my face because flirting should make your day, not just his. I’ve also received two marriage proposals in a month when I’ve rarely left the house, which is ever so promising seeing as I have my eye on the prettiest dress from Vivien of Holloway that I ‘d love to get married in while on a trip to Vegas with a hot boy in a retro suit…Girls, you need to make pleasure a priority, it’s the law o’ Sassiness.SPIRITUAL LEARNING – I love to learn, and I have a HUGE obsession with all things spiritual/occult, so nothing makes me happier than chatting with my fellow witch-y friends, studying goddesses, giving tarot readings – I now give Sassy readings read about them in Diva o’ Destiny and playing with crystals – when I’m indulging in all my witch-y goddess-y goodness I am truly happy.
What makes YOU happy? What’s in your Sassy kit o’ pleasure? Share with me!

I’ve only been engaged once, but if it happens again, I’d like it to look a lot like this…

“…After all these years, I am still involved in the process of self-discovery. It’s better to explore life and make mistakes than to play it safe. Mistakes are part of the dues one pays for a full life…”

A Single to Rome? After seeing Nine earlier this week, I am ALL over that idea. Unfortunately though, my finances won’t allow me so much as a slice o’ pizza this month, so I have indulged my love for all things Italiano by snuggling under the goose-feather duvet – seriously, best purchase I’ve EVER made – with Sarah Duncan’s new book, A Single to Rome.
I LOVE this book. I mean, not only is it filled with my most favourite of things – that’s Italiano-men who put the Rome in Romeo, btw – it’s a also a warm and romantic tale of love, rudie nudies and making the right choices – it’s the perfect escape from all this borin’ snorin’ January glumness… Come meet the lady behind the words, she’s ever-so fabulous.

I heart bombshell-inspired clothing, but being a curvy girl means that it’s not often I can indulge my inner 1950’s goddess girl.
Enter Vivien of Holloway. If you love the retro look, Vivien of Holloway is your go-to girl whatever your size. She has a real-life shop in London and a beyond pretty website that has a fabulous range of 40s and 50s inspired ensembles at very reasonable prices. Charlotte Church, Nigella Lawson, Alesha Dixon and Kate Nash are all fans of the full-skirted halter dress, and myself? Well, I just want it all! Come meet the lady behind the label…yep, you’ve guessed it, I’ve gone and got a girl crush.
