“…I don’t understand how a woman can leave the house without fixing herself up a little – if only out of politeness. And then, you never know, maybe that’s the day she has a date with destiny. And it’s best to be as pretty as possible for destiny…” – Coco Chanel

    Do you…

Life, love, purpose, career, passion, pouty-lips – look, will someone please explain this whole ‘life’ thing to me? Actually, never mind – The Sassy Minx has it’s own manifesto.

bubble-bath-girlSpoil yourself. Buy those purr-ity shoes, have a bubble bath at 2 o’ clock in the afternoon, be creative, eat chocolate, read a whole book in one sitting, watch your favourite film, take regular naps, (add your own here…)

Go-for-it. Develop a ‘can-do’ mentality by trying food you’ve never tasted without turning your nose up, travelling solo, learn a new language…If there’s something you’re scared of doing then face that fear, think positively and believe that you can do anything – go get ‘em tiger!

Make a statement. Check out your reflection in the mirror, smile, and boost your bravado by belting out Christina’s ‘I am beautiful’ loud enough to shatter glass. Alternatively, choose a positive statement that will have the same feel-good factor and write it down. Stick a copy on your mirror, make it a screensaver on your computer, anywhere that you look on a regular basis, this will become a constant reminder of how cool you really are!

kristin2Reinvent yourself when necessary. If you’re unhappy with something, change it! Don’t be afraid to try new things, whether it’s pink fishnet tights, a new haircut or thinking differently about something or someone.

Always smile. It goes with everything – it’s the perfect accessory!

Be a trailblazer. Whether it’s wearing flip-flops in the rain, wanting to be the first girl on Mars or choosing what course to take, don’t follow in the footstep of others, go where there is no path and make your own YOU-shaped killer-heel footprints.

Dare to dream. Dream hugely, don’t put limitations on yourself…anything is possible. Make it a habit to write down your dreams and goals, believe that what you want is achievable and take positive steps each day towards making it happen!

Lisa, what do you think about your fellow Sassy Minx, Aimee?
She’s a freakin’ rock star. Fact.
Honestly, there’s nothing not to like about her. She’s hilarious, has an encyclopedic knowledge of fashion, sends cute txts to make me smile, and despite being a uber-glam lingerie designer, is more than happy to kick-back in a pair of PJs and watch girlie flicks with me.
    So, Miss Aimee? Awesome.

What is it you do exactly, Aimee?
I am a lingerie designer, I’m writing my first book and I buy a LOT of shoes.

Miss Aimz, you have effortless style and a kick ass attitude –whats your secret?
Take risks. Mix it up. Experiment. Make and break your own rules. Its not a secret so much as just expressing yourself.

    Who are your style Icons?
God, uhm…they change all the time – every day I usually give a nod to someone, for example, a Burberry trench and I’m Audrey, ripped tights and a pretty dress with smeared lipstick and its Courtney. Give me a jumpsuit and I’m Salt from Salt N Pepa and a chiffon dress, Jerry Hall.  Early Madonna too. Mix it up!

What makes you jump-in the air happy?!
I love being with my friends, and having a good Sunday Roast with my family, and having adventures and I wont lie, I don’t mind cheeky snogs with cheeky boys either!

Quick fire round: What’s your favourite…
Ice cream: Vanilla. Plain old Vanilla.
Shoe Store: Miu Miu do fabulous shoes. I adore interesting heels. Office and Topshop are pretty good at translating trends down though.
TV show: Uhm, I don’t watch it all that much, Gossip Girl was the last programme to excite me though! Chuck Bass. Le sigh.
Website/blog: I get my five a day; ELLE UK, The Sun, Facebook, Pink World (girls site, not porn one!), Asos for their daily blog.
Celebrity: I’ve got a soft spot for Lily Allen and Courtney Love.

Aimee, what do you think of Sassy Minx, Lisa?
She caught my eye every time she came to my checkout at the local supermarket. From then on, I knew it was friend lurve, even though her pink and black finery clashed with my green shop-girl get-up! As I packed her shopping, I had no idea that a few years later, we would be in Paris together kissing boys or that she would be at the end of my emails when I lived halfway round the world in Hong Kong. Ms Lisa is freakin’ amazing, a great listener and gets ‘it’. The ‘it’ being the art of being fabulous, open minded and a great friend. Her ‘aye, aye ayes’ and her ‘freakin’ this, and freakin’ that’ when she speaks, make me laugh the mostest. This Doris knows her dealio’s.

    FAQs

    What is Sassy Minx exactly?
Well, we LOVE make-up and pretty things as much as the next Sassy Minx, but as well as knowing what the must-have lip-gloss is, we want to know about books we can read that will touch, move and inspire us, we want real real insights into making our life substantially sweeter,  we want to meet kick-ass girls doing awesome things and find out what their secrets to their success are, so we’ve made a  pretty, pretty website to do all that!

    What’s The Sassy Sessions?
Lisa: I’m all about encouraging girls and women to rock.
    Hard.
Which is why I’ve created The Sassy Sessions – kick-butt, make-life-sweeter sessions that will fill your vanity case with everything you’ll ever need to become THE sassy minx!

Love the look of your site – did you design it?

Hell, no. We may be awesome, able to write features, and throw a look together in nano-seconds, but we are NOT techno girls. The gorgeous Kelly at Lolapop created our too-cool-for-school logo – isn’t it adorbz?! And the super-talented, uber-patient Kieran Masterton made the site work AND look pretty – dude, we salute your techno prowess!
