Pretty toes are of course, a must. And with all the fabulous nail colour’s out there, its easy enough to achieve. But stronger nails are the best-and with the extra stress from holiday sand and sea, they usually take a bit of a hammering. I swear by Ruby and Millie’s crystal nail file(16.00 from Boots) to get them in shape, and Collection 2000 for the base and top coat-its cheap enough to change your colour every week, too!

My favourite nail colours this summer, is Nails Inc; Kings of Neon range. A lotta brite, and a little pastel, its a good all rounder and can do all the trends from Romance to Jet-Set. At 22.00 for eight, its a sure-fire hit.

Maintainance;-Its no good prepping and polishing, if you aren’t going to maintain. And with these handy blaggers, it is possible to do in the minimum of time.
Remember those crusty heels we were talking about earlier? Make sure you banish the hard and dead with one side of this Alida foot file, smooth and polish with the other side. Changing your shoes from winter to summer is bound to change the soles of your feet, so this is a good all rounder.

Tell us more about what you do?
I design and make jewellery under my brand, hannahmakesthings.com-we specialise in making jewellery that’s gorgeous, shiny, eye catching and just that little bit different.

Who/what inspires you and why?
I collect loads of random bits of kitsch, old photo albums etc and I love looking through them for ideas. I love visits to carboot sales to pick up random treasures. I love my music too and collect vinyl records as I’m really into all things 60’s and 70’s. I find a lot of inspiration in everyday life and really like making jewellery based on familiar things, but turning them into something to treasure, for example we designed a golden pretzel necklace for our last collection and that’s been a bit hit.

What do you love about being a woman in the world?
That there is limitless possibilities to what you can achieve, as long as you work hard, learn from your mistakes and never give up then you can always make you dreams come true.

Where are your five must-go destinations for inspiration, life..?
1)New York- its all about the shopping!
2)Manchester, as its got a really great selection of independent shops and a brilliant music scene.
3)London- I studied there and learnt, so much about design and running my own label.
4)Blackpool – Its like a cut price Las Vegas! Great for some seaside sun and fish’n’chips
5)Hong Kong – Its next of my list of “must visits”

What has been your proudest moment so far?
Seeing my designs featured in magazines like Look and surviving our first Clothes Show live at the NEC in December last year, its was mad busy but so nice to meet customers old and new and the reaction to our label was brilliant.

I have been a big fan of the online shop Roxie Sweetheart for a while, it reminds me of my time in Hong Kong, and Michelle, the founder of the brand, came and visited me whilst I was there, to hunt for trinkets and animations to use as inspirations for her collections. Hello! I am the creator and director of a lovely little company called Roxie Sweetheart!
Roxie Sweetheart is a dressing up box of colourful, creative and cutesy accessories with unique illustrations and quirky prints. Accessorize with pick’n'mix shapes, textures and trinkets…for the beautiful girl who wants to be noticed and create her own fairytale harajuku style! Kawaii! Roxie Sweetheart girls are also fun, creative, passionate and fashionable.

Who/what inspires you and why?
I am inspired by everything; music, art, fashion, nature and architecture.
I adore Japanese culture, art and street fashion. Harajuku girls are my idols, they are not afraid to express themselves, and looking cute does not mean being silly! They know how to layer, how to use colour and combine designers like Vivienne Westwood with Vintage and Hello Kitty!

What do you love about being a woman in the world?
Being able to choose a slice of chocolate fudge cake over a man any day… and not feel guilty about it!

Where are your five must-go destinations for inspiration, life..?
There are many places I still want to travel around the world.
Biggest must-go destinations are Japan (top of my list!), Paris, New York, Thailand and Barcelona.
I am going to visit Barcelona this year just for the stunning and intricate Gaudi architecture, it’s truly amazing!

What has been your proudest moment so far?
My proudest moment has been taking a huge risk by first moving to London a year ago, with no job and no stability I experienced some tough times, but I stuck through it in order to get nearer to reaching my goals and achieving a good career. I am still working hard but I have made some fabulous friends and contacts along the way : )

I also can’t live without my Max Factor Masterpiece MAX mascara, rose tinted Vaseline, Vaseline with aloe vera body lotion and my Gwen Stefani Harajuku Lover’s perfume in ‘Music’ which smells delicious!

What makes you jump-in-the-air happy?
Good friends, music and food in the sunshine

What is your life Motto?
Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind… and above all, love what you do.

What is next for you creatively?
I am going to continue designing and promoting Roxie Sweetheart. I believe gaining experience and contacts within the industry is the most important thing you can do, as well as keep being creative all the time, in whichever way you can. I am always designing, making and thinking of new ideas, so keep your eyes peeled for new Roxie Sweetheart collections!

I first introduced the fabulous Vanessa Fristedt here to you via one of her fabulous necklaces. Just like her design pieces, Vanessa is inspiring and unique – come meet her!

Vanessa, tell us more about yourself and what you do?
I’m born in Stockholm, Sweden. I came to London to do a foundation course and stayed here ever since.
I’m a freelance graphic designer. I specialise in branding but design all sorts of printed material and websites too.
Along with my partner, Karen Ashton, I run Pretty Taxing. We produce limited edition tax disc holders by top artists including Sir Peter Blake, Gary Hume, Sarah Lucas, Abigail Lane and Mat Collishaw. They are circular artworks which you display on the inside of your car’s windscreen.

I also make my “Old Broad Bean” jewellery (cufflinks and necklaces) which is based on Cockney Rhyming slang. Since I live in East London and have an obsession and admiration for Her Majesty The Queen (and The Queen Mother), I decided to put her onto a bean. In Cockney, Bean means Queen.

Who/what inspires you and why?
Art is important to me. I studied art before getting into commercial art, but both feed/need each other. Conceptual art and advertising are close together. But I also get inspiration by just sitting and watching people. When I start a new project and need to come up with ideas quickly, I usually go and sit outdoors at a café, drink tons of coffee and watch people and feel the buzz.

What do you love about being a woman in the world?
I am happy to be woman but what is tricky with being a woman in London, is that I find men are afraid of strong women. Beeing Swedish, I find British men still have an old fashioned way with communicating with us strong girls. Girls are not so afraid of failure and this in itself helps to push our boundaries.

Where are your five must-go destinations for inspiration, life..?
I love water and sea. I love going to Venice, especially for the Art Biennale. Amazing place where you get around by boat.
The archipelago of Stockholm has over 40 000 islands and is still untouched. It’s a paradise on earth.
New York is a brilliant place too.
And Rio de Janeiro – a mad vibrant place where people are wonderful!
I wish London based more things around the Thames. Where are all the cafes and bars on the Embankment? Tracey Emin had a brilliant idea about making a beach along the Thames where you could swim within an enclosed area. Boris: Wake up! I’d love to become the Mayor of London!

What has been your proudest moment so far?
Proud? God knows. When I dressed up as the Queen Mother walking around Trafalgar Square during the Old Broad Bean’s Golden Jubilee in 2002.

What makes you jump-in-the-air happy?
Many things, but one that makes me jump of happines is driving Casanova, my Venetian taxi boat. She’s a beauty, all in wood. She takes the wawes perfectly and is a joy to drive.
I also love American cars and the sound from a loud V8 engines. When I go to car shows, I get over excited by the sound of a good rev.
And last, I truly jumped high up in the air when Ken the Cxxt Livingstone lost the last elections.

What is your life Motto?

What is next for you creatively?
Apart from getting new design work, I want to make a book about old ladies and the way they dress. Ladies from the older generation. The ones with blue rinse hair, who have attitude and their own style. I have to hurry up before they’re gone. Does anyone know of any ladies who want to be photographed? Or grandmothers? Please contact me if you do. They have to look their best and bring their favorite object.

Activities: T – swim on a need-to-have-my-hair-done day, gym and have just taken up golf but might not last for long as cannot find trendy outfit that is worthy of a Princess!Â G – total gym bunny shopping movies (watching 2 back to back) reading in bed (ahhhh) and we both do charity work raising monies for childrenâ€™s orphanages in Eastern Europe.

What’s new, pussycat?

Hola!

So, Ms L and I have taken a little time out to get inspired and drop some fun times, so I thought that it’s only fair to pass the feel-good feeling on, let you know what we’ve been doing (and buying, because c’mon, no one needs a break from shopping, right?!)

The bank holiday weekend was spent retro-stylee. We lunched at a BBQ and then went to the travelling fair with some tins of Strongbow – I know, I know, but I did pretty much co-ordinated my outfit to the can, that’s got to be a good thing hasn’t it? – and sang and danced to Lady Gaga’s new tune. Love her, or hate her we just can’t resist wanting to take a ride on her “Disco Stick”.

Our new thing du jour, is to only snog on dates as opposed to offering a full menu of service. We don ‘t know if its to do with the recession, but later on in the pub, we were speaking to lots of girls and boys who said they too are relishing a good pash-up over a drunken smash-up. It seems fitting then, that last week I was sent a gift of Urban Retreat’s Lip Service. An exfoliator, base to keep colour in, primer to moisturise and gloss to make your lips zing and I feel like I got some of the best bee-stung, kissable lips in town.

To chill, I read the hilarious “Its Not Me, Its You” by Charlotte Ward. Punchy, straight-to the point and plenty of moments we can all relate to, although there are also a LOT of moments that made me realise my break-ups have been a walk-in-the-park in comparison – I just couldnt put it down. Break up stories don’t usually appeal to me, but hey, we’ve all been there with the Kleenex and the ice cream tub, haven’t we? Whether you’ve been scorned or not, this is a must-read.

Shield your eyes ladies, because you are about to experience a whole lot o’ pretty. Bedcrumb is home to self-indulgent lovliness, and if you ask me, there’s nothing more fabulous than that.

Let me tell you a li’l bit about Miss Heidi, the lady behind the label – she loves colour, illustration and the mixture of old and new materials and techniques. All prints are from Heidi’s original illustrations – ohmystars, they’re pretty – and are usually of elegant and charmingly random ladies, birds & creatures. Oh, and one more thing, each Bedcrumb piece is made in the UK in Heidi’s small, busy, tune-filled studio, far away from mass production – I am in a pool of drool just looking at all the prettification, you will be too, I guarantee it.

Favourite phrase: ‘God’s good and the devils not bad either’ My great nanna used to end letters with this sentiment!

Make-up item: MAC fluidline eyeliner in blacktrack – total genius stuff for fabulous eyes and a vintage red lipstick, there is always a situation where one is needed…..I am adding a new makeup bag to my website www.bedcrumb.co.uk soon with a print dedicated to this belief!

Current obsession: My new headphones and their spiral cord which reaches miles!

Fashion inspiration: Randomly fabulously wonky people & thoughts.

Accessory: LOTS-old, new, cheap and unaffordable

The Sassy List: Calypso Rose

Not only does Calypso have the coolest name in the whole wide world, she’s created quite possibly the coolest prod in the whole wide world too – the Clippy bag.

This is the super-cute pink, pimped up version that I absolutely WANT. NEED. MUST HAVE.

Isn’t it awesome? Calypso designed the original so she could display her collection of Polaroid photographs in bag-form, except lots and lots of people stopped her in the street wanting to know where it was from. So, she put 250 bags into production. She customised a large bag with a sign saying â€˜stop me and buy oneâ€™ and hired a stall on the Portobello Road, London. She sold all the bags in the first month â€“ that minxes, makes her a rockstar. Fact.

While I continue to drool over my new favourite thing – seriously, look at it, it’s pretty x 100, isn’t it? – meet the lady behind the label and get totally inspired by her Sassy List – it’s a good one, minxes!

Calypso’s Sassy List

Phrase/saying: “Lifeâ€™s a whirl for a Clippy girlâ€¦”

Make-up item: Rosie Jane Cheek gloss, makes you look super healthy and radiant and you can use it on your lips.

Current obsession(s): Twittering/clippy/pretty Tea Cups. The ones from Undergrowth Design are more Tease than Teas (check out the cups with legs)/My vegetable garden – I have potatoes, beans, lettuce and courgettes all growing in my tiny garden â€“ I shall be self-sufficient for about a week.

Magazine: One of my best friends writes for Grazia and she is excellent at keeping me up-to-date with celeb land.

Designer: Alexander McQueen, the McQueen diffusion range is definitely worth checking out as it is affordable (just) and it gives you an excuse to marvel at all the fabulous Selfridges promotions that are happening at the moment.

Nail colour: Essie Flirty Fuchsia, paint each toe with a different florescent colour for pretty Summer feet â€“ make sure each foot matches.

Jewellery: eclectic eccentricity – My boyfriend, aka Sailor Jim, bought me the one with the anchor â€“ each piece is different and quirky, and wonâ€™t break the bank…

Book: Life of Pi, persevere with the first couple of chapters and then youâ€™re hooked…

Film: Once – the most romantic and beautiful film with music from Glen Hansard.

Shoe shop: KG – I love a super high heel, who cares if I tower above my boyfriend, I NEED these!

City: New York – love Greenwich village and having a nail bar on every street corner keeps a girl feeling sleek and chic. Patricia Field is a destination shop and Grand Central Stationâ€™s Oyster bar is sensational.

Food: I canâ€™t walk past a Ping Pong without grabbing some Dim Sum (should be a line from a Lily Allen song?)

Music: I saw Elbow at Latitude festival last year and have just ordered their CD with the BBC orchestra.

Hang out space: Lucky Voice Karaoke or bowling at All Star Lanes.Â The lanes are shorter than the average bowling lane so there is more chance of me actually hitting something.Â Last time I went we played with James Cordon (well he was on the lane next doorâ€¦same thing.)

Holiday destination: Keeping it British, this year Sailor Jim and I went up the Brecon canal on a barge â€“ its not just for OAPâ€™s, promise, there are moody teenage boys with their parents too!Â Totally relaxing and beautiful.

Must-have travel item: A Clippy jumbo washbag, Carry pictures of my two favourite bunnies wherever I go.Â Also need lots of space for all that nail varnishâ€¦

TV series: Desperate Housewives, every episode makes me laugh and cry just a little and I quite fancy the plumber.

Boy crush: Robert Downey Junior (boys NO! give me a real man)

Girl crush: Audrey Tautou , stylish, beautiful, Frenchâ€¦sigh.

Activities: Lindy Hopping, still need a bit of practice but itâ€™s a fantastic excuse to put on a poodle skirt and twirl on the dance floor…
