Blog Love: Relentlessly Positive

In the words of Baz Luhrmann, “Do not read beauty magazines. They will Only. Make. You. Feel. Ugly.” If you’ve ever put down a fashion magazine and wished you were six feet tall and a size two, if you’ve ever despaired at the critical way women (and men) are written about in celebrity magazine or bought a diet magazine and then wished you hadn’t bothered then Relentlessly Positive, the blogginz by gorgeous girl Miss Sarah Clark is for you – it’s a website totally dedicated to making people feel GOOD – what’s not to love about that?
Miss Sarah – what is relentlessly positive and what made you set it up?
Relentlessly Positive is whatever I decide it’s going to be on any given day! I started it after dumping my last ever copy of Heat magazine in the bin in disgust – what a bitch fest that was! I was fed up with reading about how we (as women) weren’t good enough, didn’t measure up and had to be something else in order to feel great about who we are.I hated all the negativity and just wanted to create a place where people could read about lovely things, feel-good people and NO DIETS EVER.
What things make you jump in the air happy?
People, mostly. I love being around happy people and having fun. I love music – and listening to girly playlists on my iPod.I love the smell of sea air, walking in the woods and kicking leaves around when nobody’s looking…and (shhhh) snow too. And anything from Hotel Chocolat will usually put a delighted grin on my face…
What do you love most about being a girl in the world?
That we don’t have to pretend to be men to get on any more. That we get to wear GORGEOUS lingerie, heels and make up. And that it’s quite acceptable when you’re a girl to bawl your eyes out at a sad film, and if you’re a man you have to pretend not to care when the dog dies in Marley & Me.
What are your five tips to be relentlessly positive?
1. Don’t give a stuff what other people think of you. I don’t mean you shouldn’t be considerate, polite or care about other people’s feelings, that’s different. But in the words of Michael J Fox, “What other people think of me is none of my business!”2. Always try to find something to appreciate, every day. Even on the crap days, get used to finding something, however small, that’s all good in your life.
3. Work it, baby! If you think you’re great, other people will too. Even if you think you’re having a fat day, bad hair day or just plain UGH day, walk like you’re Marilyn Monroe (unless you’re a boy, in which case you might get some funny looks) who was able to just turn on ‘Marilyn’ when she wanted to be noticed. Same old Marilyn, different ‘tude.
4. Find yourself some fab female icons and surround yourself with inspiring people. People who inspire me: Lisa C (she’ll be all a-blush again but her total happy go lucky outlook is a real inspiration) My Mum (awwhhh bless), Nigella, Marilyn Monroe, Lady Gaga and Paloma Faith.
5. Don’t take life too seriously. Ever.
What tunes would be on a RP soundtrack?
Ooooh I love questions like that.ABBA – Dancing Queen
Gloria Gaynor - I am what I am
Echobelly – Great Things (”I wanna do great things, I don’t wanna compromise, I wanna know what life is, I wanna try everything”)
Patsy Cline – Crazy – best song to sing while hoovering EVER. Fact.
Girls Aloud – The Promise
Diana Ross – I’m comin’ out
The Carpenters – Only Yesterday
Barry White – The First, The Last, My EverythingWhat’s your motto for life?
