Bust the double Gs!

June 4th, 2009Girls On Top, Inner Minx, Prod Love
Li’l Miss Minx, I need to apologise. I am one of those people. Those easy-breezy super-cheery, spring-outta-bed-in-the-morning type people. But just so you know, even those people, have those days. The days when even a cute brown-eyed boy wearing guyliner, an entire vat of chocolate and a back-to-back Audrey movie marathon won’t shift the cloud o’ grey from above their head.
So, what’s a girl to do?
Recently, since reading my new favourite book, I’ve been rather taken with saying F**k it when the GG’s come to town – that’s the Grump & Glooms, btw – but if you prefer less potty-mouthed ways to kick your own GG’s to the kerb, here’s my chocolate box of fail-safe GG-bustin’ treats. FYI: There’s no actual chocolates, I’ve eaten them all…

Go to the Bnevertoobusytobebeatuiful website. Let out a sigh of beauty-filled wonder as you positively drool at the pretty, pretty, prodz. Not only do they come in the most gorgeous packaging, they’re perfect for vegans too – hurrah! If making a purchase will make you feel better, and let’s face it, it absolutely will, allow me to recommend the following: B Scent – ohh, it’s dee-vine, Baker pressed eyeshadow – a long lasting fuchsia pink, purrrity and Keep It Fluffy bubble bar – makes skin soft and smells ahh-mazing, just crumble under running water and enjoy!

Collect a pile of books you’ve been meaning to read for a whole lot of forever, find a shady tree, a hammock, a nice rug and lose yourself in someone else’s reality for the day. I’d re-read any of these autobiographies, Weetzie Bat by Francesca Lia Block – I’ve read it at least twenty times and still fall head over Westwood’s in heart with it, if you’re going to buy it, get it as part of the Dangerous Angels series, it’s whimsical and beautiful, and gritty and real and…I love it, it soothes me, My Way of Life by Joan Crawford – it’s been recommended to me by the adorbz Miss Jenny, except I can’t find it anywhere, does anyone have a copy I can borrow, please?

Listen to the Piperita Patties. They’re candy-coated shouty-girl fabulousness and will make your day sweeter, I can guarantee it. They’ve also written a song about Lola Love, the hipster heroine of my go-for-it girl books – it’s out in July on PINK vinyl – how awesome is that?!!

Fly solo – take a walk to the beach – I do this even if I’m not suffering from the GG’s, it would be rude to live five minutes from the sea and not go walking, right? Head to the park and swing on the swings, go watch a movie that none of your friends would go to with you or, my personal fave, take yourself to your most favourite eating establishment and order dessert for all three courses – yumsville city.

Rub and scrub – I heart x 100 the obscenely dee-lish Elemis prods especially Elemis Exotic Frangipani Monoi Moisture Melt, it smells like sunshine, summer and general gorgeousness, and can be used on both your body and your hair as an intense moisturising treatment – get yourself a bottle for £29.00 – I love it! I go completely weak at the knees for the coconut scent of Spa Paradisa’s Renew Your Skin body butter, it’s £8.00 from Debenhams and lasts for aaaages – whatever your prod of choice, as you rub them into your face and body, sniff in the sweet-smelling scent, pay attention to how good it feels and whisper sweet, sweet nothings to yourself – show yo’self some major love.

Throughout May, I was lucky enough to score three, count ‘em baby, bunches of super-pretty flowers from three different admirers. Now, I’m not one to ever turn down a token of woo-age, but do you know what? The bunch of really pretty tomato-red roses that I bought myself from my local supermarket over three weeks ago, have outlived all of the crazy-expensive, over-the-top boy flowers. Moral of the story? Don’t wait for a boy-type to buy you flowers, buy your own!

Have a reiki session – take a deep breath, lie back and relax. Reiki rocks and is my one-way ticket to bliss-kissed happiness. If you live in Portsmouth, come have a session with me, I’m trained, y’know! If reiki’s not your thing – and please, please, please give it a go before you decide, it really is the most incredz discovery – light a yummy smelling candle, an SM favourite is Cowshed’s Grumpy Cow candle – £28.00, lie down and listen to some relaxing music, ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh……..

Smile – take a look at yourself in the mirror and no matter how gloomy and grumpy you might be feeling, slick on your favourite lipstick – I am currently a little bit in love with Barry M’s Vibrant Pink lip paint – £4.25 – stretch your lips across your teeth and smile at your reflection. It’s really hard for the GG’s to compete with the power of the smile. Fact.
So what do you do to turn your frown upside down? I’d LOVE to know your own GG bustin’ moves!

I guess Chocolate is always good for the soul, in every mood…that doesn’t mean to always eat chocolate but a tiny little piece is as ok as a big chunk at times!

Taking a walk by the sea sounds wonderful, because I love the sea, the ocean, the beach…even on a windy more colder day! It’s good to breathe in deeply sometimes and to think about things!
I also like to write things off my cheest, not really in a diary kinda way, it can be a poem, just thoughts or doodles.
Hugs help! Hugs are great! My big brother gives good hugs when I am feeling down and always cheers my up somewho, even thought he isn’t really a funny guy…maybe that is why!
Ok, I need to stop this comment gets longer and longer!
