The wait is finally over.
If you loved I heart New York by our BFF, Lindsey Kelk, then you’ll be pleased to know that the next installment, I heart Hollywood is out NOW!The book blurb: Angela Clark can’t believe her luck. She’s an English girl living in New York with a dream job at hip magazine The Look and a sexy boyfriend. Her latest assignment takes her to Hollywood to interview hot actor and fellow Brit James Jacobs.Thrown in at the deep end she heads west with best friend Jenny dreaming of Rodeo Drive and Malibu beach. Soon Angela discovers that celebrity life in Hollywood is not all glamour, gloss and sunshine. Despite his lady-killer reputation, the only person who seems genuine is James. Then a paparazzi snaps them in an uncompromising position and suddenly Angela is thrust into the spotlight for all the wrong reasons! Can she convince all those close to her – especially her boss and her boyfriend – not to believe everything they read? And will Hollywood ever win Angela’s heart?
Miss Aimee and I stayed with Miss Lindsey on our recent trip to NY – not only does she write ace-cake books, she cooks a mean Thanksgiving turkey too – check out our holiday snaps, read about how totes fabu she is, then go buy I heart Hollywood, yep, in that order…

Describe author girl Lindsey Kelk in 5 words…
Curious, adventurous, funny, sleepy and happy. It’s nice to be able to slap the last one on there and mean it…I heart New York has been a huge success – have you become impossible to be around now that you’ve moved to the city itself and have books on shelves? What’s life like for you right now?
Yes, I am terrible. Worse than Mariah Carey… no, really, moving here was a) the best thing I ever did and b) stopped me from seeing those books the shelves, so if I couldn’t have an attitude problem even if I wanted one! Life is fantastic but ridiculously busy – I’m currently editing I Heart Paris, working on my first non-Angela book, writing two blogs, trying to keep a full time job and you know, doing the important stuff like going out with my friends and kissing boys too. I’m knackered all the time but if life is what you make it, I’m determined to make it sweet!
Miss Aimee, Lindsey and me getting wind blown in East River ParkWhat are your five must-go-to destinations in NY?
Ooh, Brooklyn Bowl in Williamsburg for delish food, frozen margaritas and pretty boys, East River Park in Williamsburg for beautiful views of Manhattan and the ice cream man that’s there on sunny days, MoMA for the Tim Burton exhibition, Cake Shop on the Lower East Side for cool bands, cake and more cute boys, and Bloomingdales uptown for EVERYTHING ELSE. All of these destinations must be accessorised with your best buds. If Paris is the city of love, New York is the city of friendship – cheesy but I believe it.
So, I heart Hollywood – because I heart NY was so successful did you suffer and 2nd book fear when writing it?
I did but more just out of second album syndrome – what if I only have one good book in me?! I wrote Hollywood before New York came out so the fear of actually having people read it outside my immediate circle of friends didn’t come until I wrote Paris. As soon as people started writing to me and telling me how much they loved New York, I started to panic!

What’s it all about? I heart Hollywood that is, not life and stuff…that’s way too difficult!
Thank goodness because I wouldn’t know where to start on the life stuff… Angela, our beloved heroine from I Heart New York, is offered a job interviewing an up and coming British actor, James Jacobs, over in LA for a week and so, armed with no research and a best friend suffering from the uber-horn, she sets off, sans her boyfriend Alex. Aside from missing Alex like mad and panicking that he’s not answering her calls because he’s doing it with lots and lots groupies, Angela doesn’t love LA like she loves New York. Jenny is behaving weirdly, it’s too hot, she has to drive everywhere and most confusing of all, Mr Hollywood hotshot, James Jacobs, is flirting with her. Surely, that can’t be happening, right?Obviously, nothing is simple in Angela’s world but when things get uber messy and she’s splashed all over the gossip rags, it’s up to Angela to make some hard decisions and convince Alex, her mum, her boss and, well, the world, that she hasn’t been playing away with one of the hottest men in Hollywood. So basically, girls, boys, a little bit of sex, a tad more shopping and lots of trying to stay true to yourself when you’re not entirely sure who that is.
So, now that you live in NY have you met lots of real-life boys like Alex? Surely there’s a shop you can buy them in in Brooklyn, non?
Oh my, it’s embarrassing. I don’t think you can blink without a boy walking by with a guitar over his shoulder. I’m thinking of opening that shop next year, ‘Lindsey’s Hot Hipsters’ and you’ll be able to come in and rent one for the night. Which wouldn’t be a bad idea actually because I’ve heard many, many tales of hipster heartbreak since I got here and most guitar boys cannot be relied upon. Sad fact, ladies. But we do like a challenge…
Which do you prefer – Hollywood or NY and why?
Oh, NY, always. I do like Hollywood and had an amazing time visiting for research last year but I’m like Angela, the sun is not my friend, I don’t drive if I can help it and well, New York is the best place in the entire world. Sorry LA, a fact’s a fact.Tell us about your writing process – how does an idea in your head turn into books with pretty, pretty covers?
Well, an amazing lady called Lee Mottley makes the pretty covers so I can’t take any credit there but as for the ideas… basically, I just start writing. Usually, I start with a short synopsis that gets more and more detailed as I get more involved with it, then, once I have the basic plotline, I just get on with it. I like to write at night and often have a lot of ideas just as I’m drifting off to sleep. It’s exciting at the moment as I’m creating new characters and they’re all shiny and I get to come up with absolutely everything about them. It’s like inventing new friends, fun, no?We were worried that when you moved to NY you’d stop educating us on all things beauty, thankfully this isn’t so, what are your current top 5 beauty recommendations?
Oh, don’t worry, there was no way I could give up BeautyMecca, I’m an addict. My top five picks at the moment are:
Komenuka Bijin conditioner for silky soft locks
Urban Decay 24/7 pencil in Stash which I wear constantly
Johnson & Johnson’s 24 hour body cream Shea & Cocoa butter which smells amazing and has the same consistency as Bliss body butters.
Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream which I know is ridiculously expensive but gives me the best skin I’ve ever had in my life
Smashbox O-Plump lipgloss – I went back to London for the weekend recently and this was the only lip product I took, I SWEAR. That’s how much I love this stuff. What’s your motto for life?
Just to make the most of every opportunity. It’s got to be better to regret something you did than to sit there in twenty years and wonder what if. I wasted a LOT of time in my early twenties and I’m trying my hardest to make up for it now.5 must-have songs for a LK life soundtrack….
