Lisa is not your average flow-y skirt wearing, crystal ball-toting type of psychic.

Lisa is new school, she’s punk rock psychic – don’tcha just love that?!!

In her eyes, being psychic isn’t about dazzling others with your skills or using parlour game-type tricks to entertain others, her punk rock life philosophy simply consists of the following: 1) Show up in life as the real you 2) Work to make the world a better place for everyone.

I love her. You will too.

A spiritual punk rock rebel – love it! – what’s one of those and how do I become one?
I define a spiritual punk rock rebel as someone who dares to follow their own spiritual (not religious) path, free of any dogma or fundamentalism. It basically means that you are capable of independent thinking. Some paths can be so exclusionary, even pompously asserting that their way is the only right way.

It’s also about being open to all ideas and people. The only rule is that you have to be loving towards others and hopefully, working to make the world a better place. So much of the world can seem so chaotic and unloving, so I decided to rebel in a way by being loving, positive, and authentic, leading with my heart.

I’d say that you already are a spiritual punk rock rebel. I so resonate with your energy and approach. You’re a soul sister!

What is it you do exactly?
Right now, I’m focused on giving psychic readings to the rebels and non-conformists of the world. I enjoy giving people loving kick-ass, useful, practical, down-to-earth guidance to move forward into creating a life on their terms. I love helping people to get unstuck. I also am a medium. I give people readings where loving messages from their deceased loved ones come through to help the healing process.

You work as an intuitive – how can we tap into our intuition? how do we know what it is? Is it our gut feeling?

I believe that everyone is psychic or intuitive. It just requires some practice and training to build the muscles. It’s not hard to tap into intuition. All it requires is willingness. Since energy or outcome follows intention, all one has to do is to start with the intention to receive intuitive guidance. Usually, your intuition or your sixth sense works in a way that is similar to how you operate in other life areas. Let’s say you’re a visual person in your day-to-day life, chances are, you will get your intuition through seeing things with your physical or inner vision or both. (This is called clairvoyance.) You might see billboards with words, repeated number sequences, animals, or the like. These things can be translated into intuitive guidance. The key is to find out how your own intuition operates and then, practice interpreting the information. There’s intuition that comes through auditory information (clairaudience), through feelings or in physical body (clairsentience), or through your thoughts (claircognizance). Intuition can come via our dreams, either directly or through symbols. Meditation is a great tool to unclutter the mind to access intuition, along with journaling. When you keep track of intuitive hits or guidance in a journal, you’ll attract more of it.

There are many external tools to obtain intuitive insights such as oracle cards, tarot cards, pendulum, runes, and other divination. Divination is a fun, safe way to develop more of your psychic abilities. It’s all a process. The big thing is to tell the ego to be quiet, trusting what you receive. And, well, the other key is to take action on the guidance you receive. Sometimes, people say they are not intuitive, but really they are intuitive. They just haven’t peeled themselves off the couch to take action. Usually, intuition is revealed in a step-by-step way. Until you take one step, the rest won’t come. It’s like the divine is being nice, not giving us too much to do so that we won’t get overwhelmed or won’t stray from our path or destiny.

Angel readings – can you tell us more? What would a reading involve?
Angel readings are similar to psychic readings. I consider the angels part of my divine team of helpers and guides who relay the information that clients need to hear. The information that comes through is loving and is usually about action steps that are needed, including possible changes required to live a more full, happy life. I decided to claim the title “psychic” in early 2010. Even though I have been psychic all of my life, I felt the term had negative connotations and associations due to the charlatans in the field. But, my leadership energy resurfaced, so I thought it was really important to call myself a psychic. I feel a responsibility to be a good role model in my industry and also, to educate the public about the psychic world. I felt really called. But, for a while there, I was calling myself an angel reader and marketing myself with a more watered-down term of Intuitive. I didn’t want to rock the boat, but wow, that didn’t last for long. I took it one step further, calling myself the Punk Rock Psychic™. I had to walk my talk, being the real me in my work. I knew it was necessary so that I could attract the clients I’m meant to help and be of service to with the psychic work. Plus, I was so tired of trying to fit the Lightworker stereotype of flow-y skirts. I know that you relate too!

Is it hard to combine business and spirituality?
It hasn’t been too hard for me, but maybe that’s because I came from a non-profit and helping profession background with some of my work as a younger adult. Then, I worked in the healing field after opting out of attending law school. I did massage and energy work for a while before transitioning into giving psychic readings full-time. I really believe the new model of business is going to be more spiritual, along with more entrepreneurs. I think the biggest challenge in the past for me was being authentic with my business. For a while, I tried to be a clone of everyone else doing spiritual or healing work. This went so against my punk rock nature. I had to return to myself. I’ve discovered that if you’re authentic and real, people will resonate with you and will be naturally attracted to working with you. The old model of a large, impersonal business is so yesterday. Social media and the Internet bring us all closer together, including a more personal connection. It is fun and just rocks!

What’s a day in the life of Lisa Marie like?
I get up early most days to meditate, do yoga, journal, do affirmations, and start my day on a positive note. I enjoy time with nature, especially my backyard birds and squirrels. I make sure that I have some self-care, especially working out. I’m an avid bicyclist. My other passion is playing electric guitar. So, I work on putting my passions first, but I also, work hard on my business. I give many readings, work on my marketing, and writing. I have so much fun that it doesn’t feel like work at all. I usually make a home cooked dinner for hubby and I each night. Then, we’ll relax together, maybe play guitar together. Our life is pretty simple. We don’t have children, but enjoy time with family and friends. I’m so blessed because I have great people in my life. And, I’m a lucky woman ‘cause my hubby also is on the spiritual path. I’m so blessed and so very happy and grateful!

    Who and what inspires you?

My hubby inspires me so much, of course. It’s great to be in love with your best friend. Our partnership is inspiring to me! I’m really inspired by music, which is actually quite the understatement. I am in LOVE with music! My favorite genres are rockabilly and punk rock, but I pretty much love it all. If I’m not playing guitar, I usually have music on in the background. I sing around the house. I spend my spare time and money going to see live music, especially local music. Besides, music, I’m inspired by Mother Nature…and, some good coffee now and then.

What 5 tunes would be on a Lisa Marie soundtrack?
Wow, it’s hard to pick only five! But, here goes:
    1) “Rebel Rouser” by Duane Eddy
    2) “Rumble” by Link Wray
    3) “Rebelina” by the Twistin’ Tarantulas
    4) “Don’t Dictate” by Penetration
    5) “You Can’t Put Your Arms Around a Memory” by Johnny Thunders
