How did you first get into lingerie design?
When I was doing my art foundation I did a massive project on erotic literature and fashion, and got really inspired by everything I found, and ended up making a collection with a latex corset, with squeezed pomegranate, a cotton skirt with printed soho sex maps and red ruffle knickers. I was really in love with Agent Provocateur at the same time aspirationally, and this combined, made me want to go to Leicester De Montfort university to do their contour course.

What’s the biggest underwear sin?
Wearing the wrong size bra and not investing in good foundation wear. If the celebs wear SPANX, so should we!

What’s the best thing to know when buying underwear as a gift?
Their size. Seriously, lingerie is a really personal thing, and every girl is different, so you should be able to tell by her style what she would like. If she isn’t into bright colours, she’s unlikely to want a racy red set. If she’s very girl-next-door, go for a pastel t-shirt bra. Get the idea? If you’re feeling really lazy, just buy her a pair of  knickers. Bad girls will love Kiki de Montparnesse slogan drawers and good girls will love the Sista Days of the Week gift box which comes in a heart shaped box. A girl can never have too many knickers!

What do your friends think of your job?
I think my friends think its cool but we don’t really discuss it so much-I know they think its more glamorous than it  actually is! For my boy mates, it’s obviously a bit of a novelty!

How do you know what size bra you are?
See an expert for a fitting! The basics are easy though – make sure your breast is enclosed in the wire, and that it’s flat on the chest and at the centre front, check that it’s level at the back and that the straps are not digging in. Oh, and bulges over the cup? Nuh-uh.

So, lingerie Miss Aimee – what should we know?
You get what you pay for. Sometimes you’re paying for design rather than fit. At Sista for going forward, I am very keen on good fit. So if a girl is looking for affordable smalls, try us, and give me your feedback. If you want lasting fit, avoid cheap fashion bras – not only do you get to keep them longer you’ll be doing your bit for the environment.

However, its trial and error with every brand. No one bra will fit the same as another. Find out what you like, and go from there.

Lastly, you need to get measured every three months as they really do change in  size. Be aware of your breasts – check them regularly for lumps and bumps and make sure they are supported. You only get one pair! x
