I’ve always been a fan of Katie Price.

I think she’s super-savvy and much-more-clever than people give her credit for. That was ’til she went and married one of my boy-crushes, Peter Andre, but despite that, I still liked her. Then, she went and made it really, really easy for me to get a piece of the Peter & Katie action by turning their entire life into a money-making brand that could be viewed in magazines and on the teevz – I’d hate to have a camera in my face all day long, but I loved that her and Pete didn’t, that way I got my guilty, guilty fix.

Now, in true SJP style, ‘I couldn’t help but wonder’, why, since the split with Pete, the media have reverted to calling Katie ‘Jordan’ again. It’s as if the Katie Price home-makin’, horse-riding persona is now flawed in some way, and the media are jeering ‘I told you so, you didn’t think you could keep that Katie Price act up now, did you? Oh, you did? Ha!’ Jordan, as a persona, is waaay more easier for them to poke fun at, bitch about and hate on.

    How sad is that?

Why can’t we have more than one persona? Why should someone be able to decide our label for us? For sure, Katie courts the media and utilises her many labels to make money – I get it, but surely, every girl is entitled to change up her persona depending on her mood, isn’t she? To try on a different label to see if it fits? I’m a geek girl, a glamzon, a daydreamer, a spiritual sister, a sassy minx – all these ‘labels’ make me one hella kick-ass girl o’ fabulousness, but if you tried to make me just rock one of ‘em? well, I just wouldn’t. So why should Katie?

Personally, I love that she was photographed looking bright and colourful with a set of dazzling, neon pink nails yesterday. You’ve gotta love that, right? Your life is falling apart, you’ve lost the dude of your dreams (Pete, I heart you – now, I’d love for you and Katie to get back together, but if it’s not sort-out-able – call me, please?), the media are making judgements on all the deets, but you’ve got a sweet-ass neon manicure – girl, you rock!

FYI: Totally off-subject, if you want to take props from Katie, in the mani-department at least, I totally recommend Barry M Neon Paint, there are three neon shades to choose from and they’re only £2.95 – bargain!

So what do you think, Minxes? Love or hate Katie? Do you walk around with an un-wanted label? Are you label-proof? I’d love to know your thoughts!

  1. I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE KATIE PRICE ANDRE!!They split up?? When??? I’m sorry but strongly convinced that she can find someone better. But…didn’t they run the love marathon few weeks ago? So…what happened?
    I never liked him, anyway….

  2. Oh no Miss ML, is this the first thing we’re going to disagree on?!! I LOVE Peter Andre! At least we both dig Katie – phew! Yep they split last week, everyone said it was a media stunt, but it seems pretty real now, lots of press coverage over here, all making Katie out to be awful…

  3. I only saw their show a few times when it was on in the US, but I was definitely sucked in by them. They are quite entertaining and, of course, the accents really got me. LOVE them.

As for labels, no one should have to fit into one label – EVER! We can all so many fabulous things and these things can change over time. (For example, I used to fall under the label of “horseback rider” but I no longer ride horses…it’s a part of me, but no longer me.) Rather than run from labels (they ARE pretty unavoidable, unfortunately), we should embrace ALL of the labels in our lives. We can (and should) be many, many FABULOUS, SASSY things. ;)

  4. I totally agree, Miss D!
